Our History

In 2016, Just B Solar (JBS) was founded with a clear vision: to promote education and information outreach in the realm of renewable energy, with a primary focus on photovoltaic. Over the years we have grown and evolved, becoming a trusted name in the field. Our commitment to equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to understand and embrace renewable energy has remained unwavering. We have expanded our offerings to include 'Intro to Solar PV' training for high school students, preparing them for pre-NABCEP testing. Founder, Keith Dent is actively engaged in training, also serves as a board member for Cooperative Energy Futures and played a pivot role in installing North Minneapolis's first community solar garden (CSG) and a few other CSG's around the Metro. As we look back on our journey, we remain dedicated to shaping a sustainable and informed future!

Curriculum

This K-12 curriculum aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of renewable energy. It includes hands-on activities, educational videos, and collaborative projects. Beyond solar technology, participants often gain a deeper appreciation for environmental conservation and sustainability.

Solar 101

This training is an introductory program that covers the basics of solar energy. It aims to educate participants about the fundamental concepts of solar power, how solar panels work, the environmental benefits, and the various applications of solar energy. It is often a starting point for those interested in exploring this field.

Community Engagement

These programs actively engage with the community by either educating the younger generation or providing individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to the growing industry. This engagement helps create a more environmentally aware and sustainable community.

Intro to Solar PV

This training is more in-depth and advanced, with a specific focus on preparing individuals for the NABCEP certification. It covers technical and practical aspects of solar energy, including system design, installation, maintenance, and safety. The primary goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to pass the NABCEP certification exam, which is often a prerequisite for working professionally in the solar industry.

Partnerships

During our solar journey, we've met and established many great relationships and partnerships. BIG shout out to KidWind, City of Minneapolis, Breck School, MPS District, MIGIZI and other local organizations throughout the Metro for the continuous support and partnerships! These partnerships help provide students with access to a broader range of educational resources and opportunities. This can lead to improved learning outcomes, increased engagement, and expanded horizons for students in the community.
